Summer Brass Academy
with the

Age: Grades 7-12 (Intermediate to advanced middle school and high school)

When: July 22-26, 2024 (11am-4pm)

Location: Bridgewater State University

​

What: The Summer Brass Academy with the Fenway Quintet is an excellent opportunity for intermediate or advanced brass students to come together for a week of exploration and growth on their instrument. Academy participants will be placed into chamber groups and a large ensemble that will rehearse daily with coaching from members of the Fenway Quintet, a professional brass quintet and resident artists in the program. In addition to rehearsals, there will be a daily masterclass focusing on various topics in brass pedagogy and performance practice. Participants will also have the opportunity to sit side by side with members of the Fenway Quintet in the large ensemble rehearsal and hear them perform on a daily basis. There will be a final concert at the end of the day on the last day of the program.

Auditions: No audition is necessary but participants will be asked to fill out a questionnaire for placement purposes in their small chamber group. 

​

Cost: Tuition for the week is $450. Payment will be due in full by May 1st to reserve your spot in the Academy. Discounts are available for pre-formed groups. Contact the director for more information.

• 11:00-11:30 am: Group Warm-Up

• 11:35 am -12:30 pm: Chamber Ensemble Rehearsal

• 12:30-12:45 pm: Snack Break

• 12:45-1:40 pm: Trumpet Ensemble/Low Brass Ensemble/Horn Ensemble Rehearsal

• 1:45-2:40 pm: Masterclass/Open Rehearsal with Fenway Quintet

• 2:45-4:00 pm: Large Brass Ensemble Rehearsal
